New authors always have the hardest time penetrating the publishing scene, but the success of Amazon’s Kindle is changing all the rules.

David Seaman, creator of credit card news and financial deals blog “Credit Card Outlaw,” shares information on how the Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) platform does the trick.

“When you upload a book manuscript you own the rights to within the Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) platform, it becomes available on Amazon.com and in the wireless Kindle Store within about 24-48 hours.”

He describes the process as “insane” compared to the 12 to 24 month waiting period required when dealing with regular print publishers.

Seaman continues:

“…this endeavor will be massively profitable for the tech savvy writers who jump on the bandwagon fairly early in the game: with a $9.99 Kindle download price, the author sees $6.98 in revenue (Kindle Direct Publishing has a 70/30 revenue split in most major territories, including the United States. Amazon takes 30%, you get 70%.”

Using this model, Seaman says a blogger or any other self-publisher can earn $100,000 in royalties by selling 14,327 copies.

Other praise that Seaman has for the system includes content creators seeing more money for their work, bloggers encouraged to create longer versions of their work, timely and relevant content for readers and a good “farming system” for budding talent.
